William Brice Stadium
Formerly known as the Columbia Municipal Stadium and the Carolina Stadium, Williams-Brice Stadium is Located on the corner of George Rogers Boulevard and Bluff Road.

It is the home football stadium for the South Carolina Gamecocks which is the college football team of the University of South Carolina, situated in Columbia, South Carolina. This stadium is adjacent to the South Carolina State Fairgrounds and State Farmers Market.

This stadium was opened on September 23, 1934 having original capacity for 17,600 people which doubled during 1940s, making the room for 34,000 and a decade later, the capacity increased to 43,000.

Major renovations were made during 1971 to 1972 in which the west grandstand was rebuilt as well as the upper deck, increasing the capacity to 54,000. The stadium was renamed as the Williams-Brick Stadium in 1972 in the honor of Martha William Brice, who left almost all of her estate for the stadium.

In 1983, a controversy rose about the new east upper deck which was reported to sway considerably, almost as much as a foot. It is the tradition of the Williams-Brice Stadium that the theme song 2001 plays whenever the Gamecocks enter the stadium for any game. The traditional mascot of Gamecocks is Cocky which is nationally recognized and won the UCA Mascot Championship in 1986 and 1984.

It is also an interesting thing that every time Gamecocks score, there is fireworks from the scoreboard and a rooster crows in the loudspeaker.
