Charleston Civic Center as the name implies is a venue that is located at the heart of Charleston City in beautiful state of West Virginia. It is situated on 200 Civic Center Drive in Charleston. It can be rightfully termed as a multi-purpose complex as it an indoor arena, a theater and a convention center. It was initially opened for public in 1959 and then underwent major renovations in the years 1964 and 1980. Mostly the events are hosted with a pre-reserved seating arrangement. The center is owned by City of Charleston. It has the capacity of around 13000 fans. There is one small theater as well that has a capacity for just 750 people. The complex actually comprises of three components namely Charleston Convention Center which is also known as Grand Hall, The Little Theater and Civic Center Coliseum.

There are some regular events that take place at Charleston Civic Center every year such as West Virginia International Auto Show, The Taste of Charleston, West Virginia Association of Fairs & Festivals Conference, Annual West Virginia Hunting and Fishing Show and West Virginia Sports Show. Apart from this a number of known high schools in and around Charleston regularly hold their graduation ceremonies as well as prom nights here.

In the past some extremely popular bands and artists have given performances at this center such as Garth Brooks, KISS, George Strait, and Led Zeppelin. From 1986 till 1989, the Civic Center was used as a home arena by Continental Basketball Association team Charleston Gunners. Seasoned country music artist Garth Brooks made history in 1997 by selling out all his four shows at this center.  Immensely popular country music diva Taylor Swift has performed here during three of her tours. The latest was Red Tour and before that she came to this venue in 2011 during her 'Speak New World Tour.'
