At the heart of the story, it is the essentially a tale of longing and wanton desire that nine year old Ralph 'Ralphie' Parker has for a Red Ryder BB Gun. Like all boys of his age, he has been wanting it for the longest time, but he keeps getting turned down by every elder that he approaches. To make matters worse, they all giving the same reason; that he would hurt himself with such a thing. There are many subplots and events within the main story such as the one with Ralph's father and the mother and the lamp, and the fight with the bullies. All these add to the nostalgic and relatable feel to the tale of a boy wanting a gun for his Christmas. It is in essence a Christmas tale that is bound to bring the whole family closer and remind each other about the joys in life.  It is a wonderful opportunity to watch this play; all you need to do is buy Allen Theatre tickets for a wonderful time.
