Also known as Fillmore Auditorium, the Fillmore is a historic music venue in San Francisco, California. San Francisco"s Fillmore West had its beginnings as the Majestic Hall which became famous by Bill Graham.

Located at the intersection of Fillmore Street and Geary Boulevard, the Fillmore Auditorium is named d for its original location. The Fillmore is leased and operated by Live Nation as of 2008.

The artists that have graced the stage of Fillmore Auditorium include Wes Wilson, John Meyers, Peter Bailey, Bonnie Maclean, Charles Seeley, Greg Irons, Jim Blashfield, Nicholas Kouninos, Stanley Mouse, Lee Conklin, Jack Hatfield, Rick Griffin, Dana Johnson, Patrick Lofthouse, Randy Tuten and many.

The history of Fillmore Auditorium dates back to 1912, when it was built in 1912. In the mid-1960s, the Fillmore Auditorium became the focal point for psychedelic music and counterculture.

Around this time, the facility featured acts such as The Grateful Dead, The Who, Cream, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Jefferson Airplane, Jimi Hendrix Experience, Pink Floyd, The Doors and Big Brother, the Holding Company and the list goes on. In 1968, Graham moved his concerts to a different venue at Market Street and South Van Ness Avenue (formerly known as The Carousel Ballroom and El Patio). Graham renamed the venue Fillmore West.

The original Fillmore Auditorium continued as The Elite Club. Later in the 1980s, Graham came back to the original Fillmore Auditorium and began presenting concerts again. But, in the late 1980s, the facility was closed due to earthquake damage.

In 1994, after much structural work, the original Geary Boulevard location re-opened as The Fillmore. The facility reopened its doors for the audience with the band The Smashing Pumpkins playing an unannounced surprise show.

While Primus played the first official re-opening show the following night. Having undergone massive changes, the Fillmore has once again appeared as a rich entertainment block in the performing arts scene.

With a capacity of 1,250 seats, the Fillmore Auditorium is enjoying a status of San Francisco"s hot spot for featuring frequent shows.
