Springfield Symphony Hall is a wonderful American concert venue located at the One Columbus Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. With a seating capacity of over two thousand six hundred, it is a performing arts center that was founded in 1913 and has been operational since then. Originally known by the name, The Auditorium, it is famous nationally for its perfect acoustics. It was built in 1911 in the Greek Revival architectural style and is part of the Springfield Municipal Group, a series of architecturally important buildings. The arena is located right next to the Italianate Campanile, a three hundred foot tall ornate structure and the Greek Revival City Hall. During the forties, its name was changed from The Auditorium to the Symphony Hall as it became the main venue of the Springfield Symphony Orchestra. It also provides the stage for other performances, community events and a number of meetings. It is one of only two venues in Springfield that provide live and professional theatre productions. An educational series is also held at the theater. It hosts more than two hundred and fifty events each year, including classical music concerts, wrestling matches, concerts, magic shows, dramas, public forums and dance recitals.
