Named "Best Outdoor Venue" in the August 2007 issue of the Phoenix Magazine, the Mesa Amphitheatre is an outdoor concert venue in Mesa, Arizona, originally built in 1979.

It has kept the same original design ever since then and has become a popular destination for both small and big acts alike, hosting such diverse bands as Modest Mouse, The White Stripes, Slayer, Sheryl Crow, John Mayer, Sammy Hagar, ZZ Top, No Doubt, Bob Dylan, Rage Against the Machine, Nickel back, Adam Sandler, The Smiths, Para more, Death cab for cutie, Paper Route and Santana.

Located just 15 minutes from downtown Phoenix, this open air venue is also popular for daylong festivals. Somewhat of a hidden oasis, the inside of the Amp remains virtually the same and very well maintained.

The entire venue is covered in lush tiered lawn, making it surprisingly cooler even in the summer months. However, it is by no means cool temperature wise but it definitely drops a few degrees by being so grassy.

The stage boasts excellent visibility plus astounding acoustics from every spot and angle in the venue. Because of its bowl shape, it also provides for plenty of shade in the late afternoon hence making the wait for the band pleasant and worthwhile since the audience can enjoy the natural settings at their leisure.

The Mesa Amphitheatre is an open-air venue with general admission lawn seating. No seat is more than 175 feet from the stage. The Mesa Amphitheatre has capacity for 4,200 people. Catering to a market of 3 million and growing, music patrons can enjoy the music of the Mesa Symphony Orchestra and productions presented by the Southwest Shakespeare Company.

Mesa Amphitheatre has long been a favorite of music fans who love cheap outdoor concerts, and when the weather"s nice in Mesa, the shows are beautiful.

The grassy, leveled venue allows for either standing or sitting, so bringing a blanket is highly recommended if you want to get cozy. Past performers include well renowned names such as Jason Mraz and Panic at the Disco, and the venue also hosts daylong music and beer festivals.

Taking in the rising inflation, the Mesa Amphitheatre provides for parking that is cheap ($5 only) with relatively easy exit.

And if you feel like being cheeky and to save the extra $5, you can also park in the neighborhood across Center St., get out even easier, and pay nothing.
