DTE Energy Music Theatre
DTE Energy Music Theatre is one of the most famous amphitheatres of the Unites State. It is located on the Sashabaw Road of Clarkston city, Michigan.

The 15,274-seat Music Theatre was built in early 1970"s by the Nederlander Organization and has hosted many great and small concerts and events on its grounds since then.

DTE Energy Theater - What Went Before?
DTE Energy Music Theatre was opened to the citizens of Clarkston city in June 1972. The opening ceremony was in the form of a concert by the famous American singer Andy Williams. This was the official opening of the Music Theatre.

However, few days prior to Andy Williams concert, there was a rather unofficial opening or a pre-opening of the Music Theatre which held the concert of David Cassidy who was a famous teen idol at that time.

The sound system used for that concert was the most latest and unique of that time. The person who designed that sound system fist time for an open-air concert was designed by David Klepper.

Klepper was associated to Klepper, Marshall, King Associates which is now known as KMK Acoustic Ltd. Andy Williams concert was a sensation and the success story of the DTE Energy Music Theatre continued till today.

DTE Energy Music Theatre - Naming History
DTE Energy Music Theatre was formerly called the "Pine Knob Music Theatre". The reason being it was situated in the vicinity of the great "Pine Knob" ski arena and golf course.

People of Clarkston kept calling it the Pine Knob Music Theatre until 2001 when the parent company of Detroit Edison, the DTE Energy bought its naming rights for ten years in $10 million. Even after this name changing, people sill like to call it with its original name the "Pine Knob Theater" or just "the Knob".

Some Statistics of DTE Energy Music Theatre
DTE Energy Music Theatre is considered to be the most top-grossing outdoor concert sites of the country per annum. In 2003, it was announced as the nation"s most attended concert in 13 consecutive years.

The Music Theatre"s per show attendance is more than 11,500 which is its third highest since Palace Entertainment took over its management. Also it was calculated that more than 833,000 people attended 72 shows including 19 sell outs at DTE Energy Music Theatre.

Some Outstanding Performances at DTE Energy Music Theatre
Since the time DTE Energy Music Theatre held its first concert of Andy Williams, many great and small events and concerts have been taken place on its grounds. The famous band Chicago has performed concerts at DTE every year since its opening in 1972.

The eminent singer Eddie Money un-wraps the concert every year in the spring. Other than the usual concerts, DTE Energy Music Theatre hosts great music tours of United States.

These include Reggae Sunsplash, Ozzfest, Gigantour, and the Family Values Tour. The Music Theatre was also a favorite spot of the Lolapalooza tour which now performs at Chicago.

Aerosmith performed with M?tley Crue at DTE Energy Music Theatre in Oct 2006 two weeks after the usual concert season that ends in September. Also, Rush, the Canadian Power Tour has regarded DTE Energy Theatre as one of their favorite performance places of the country.
