The architect has managed to design the theater very masterfully and gave it an ambiance that is unmatched. New York famous decorator Anne Dornan furnished the theatre and claimed the Africa Corner as the most beloved one since all the collectables placed there are authentic collection from her travels.

Earlier the theatre also had its own orchestra and in addition to showing movies, deluxe variety shows were also played at the arena. Some of the classic MGM movies were showcased at Ohio Theatre Columbus and thus it was declared as the premiere place for MGM films.  Most of the programs ran for a week while there was also an exception in the case of Gone With The Wind which continued for three weeks. During the second World War the theatres were busier than ever and Ohio Theatre Columbus was not an exception. Ohio Theatre Columbus tickets sold like hot cakes and this added to its fame too.

In 1940’s when the TV became popular, the attendance to the theatre automatically reduced. People started spending time at homes and thus the movie watching ritual especially on the weekends was somehow affected. Further reduction was seen when people started moving from the city areas to the suburbs. The need for theatre was felt as the lives became busier and mechanical. To break the cycle of boredom, people started coming to Ohio Theatre once again and soon it gained recognition as a place worth a visit. The renovation of the arena added to the beauty of the place with the original stage and interior artistically renovated and saved.
