Let"s take a bird"s eye view of the Macon Centerplex" significant entity: Macon Auditorium. The history of the Auditorium dates back to 1925, when it opened its doors to public.

Nestled in the historic district of downtown Macon, the Macon Auditorium is not only noted for its atmosphere and amenities, but also the events it has put up for the audience over the years. The facility successfully marked its way to the National Register of Historical Places.

The Macon Auditorium features a monumental assembly hall, the unique copper dome of which is reportedly the largest in the world. To-date, many big entertainers and regular folks marked their ways here with some of the most successful concerts, events and other entertaining acts.

In 1968, the Macon Coliseum was added to the Macon Centerplex, making it an entertaining block in Macon. With the capacity to seat over 9,000, the Macon Coliseum was built in 1968 as the entertainment center for Macon and Middle Georgia"s 30 surrounding counties.

It was the first facility of its size and type in the United States. It quickly garnered attention of the artists and performing arts companies from around the world. Some of the memorable performances presented on its stage include Elvis, The Jacksons, Billy Joel and Reba McEntire. After undergoing significant renovations in 1996, the Macon Coliseum became the perfect site for a variety of events.

The second addition, Macon Coliseum, to Macon Centerplex has numerous assets that make it stand out from other assembly facilities. Events featured here may range from conventions and trade shows to sporting events or any other entertainment event you can imagine.

In 1996, the Macon Centerplex saw a third addition of Edgar H. Wilson Convention Centre. The 102,000 gross sq.ft. Convention Center turned the Centerplex into the Georgia"s largest convention/event facility as well as one of the largest, finest and most versatile in the Southeastern United States.
