Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center was founded in 1932 as a movie theater. Soon it was turned into a single-theater house for movies by the owners of United Artists. In the early 90's, United Artists decided to demolish it as running it as a movie house was not profitable but it was purchased by local investors and eventually turned into a performing arts center. Local community also contributed a lot in purchasing and renovating the complex. The main aim was to provide the residents with a high quality entertainment center.
