The city was incorporated in 1870; it was the time when the area was nicknamed 'Cow town' due to its location on Chrisolm route, during which time the town had attracted many number of immigrants. And that is how the small town of Wichita became the magnificent city it is today. Wichita is the hub of all the cultural, historic and entertainment activities of the entire state of Kansas. The Sedgwick County Zoo is located in the North West side of Wichita which is home to more than 500 different species of exotic and wild animals. Century II Convention Hall located in the downtown, hosts all the Wichita Symphony Orchestra and Music Theatre of Wichita and several other events throughout the year.
