The historic city of Wabash is located in the Wabash County, Indiana. The state of Indiana is the 19th admitted state in the Union. The name simply means 'Indian Land'. The residents of Indiana are called Hoosiers. Latin Americans together with the Hispanic population make the biggest minority with 1.46 %. The climate of the city can said to be moderate. August is the hottest month, along with June and July. The mean temperatures in August hovers around 76.2 F. Winters are short and warm. February is the coldest month when the average temperature can be as low as 16 F.
The location of the city besides the Wabash River has always been significant for the history of the city. In the early 18th century, the area was the hunting ground for a couple of pastoral tribes. In year 1826, deals were signed to allow the areas to be used for the settlements of Whites. Jeremiah Cox was one of the first persons to purchase land in area which is now known as Wabash County. Thus the White settlements expanded but many Indians still chose to continue residing in the area and that remains so to-date. Slowly the small community began to swell as more and more people started living in the area. And this is how the city began to fully become what it is today. There are many a historical sites in Wabash today which speaks volumes of its struggle to co-op with the developing world. Wabash County Museum is one of them. It presents visitors with an insight into the rich cultural history of the city. Wabash County Courthouse is another monument of the city.
