National historical Park which is surrounded by the preserved neighbourhood, the Lincoln Herndon Law offices State Historic Site, The Lincoln Tomb State Historic Site, Old Capitol State Historic Site , the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum. Dana Thomas House is another must visit site. House was built in 1902 - 1904 and has some remarkable furnishings Frank Loyd Wrights designed.

The two best known parks in the city are carpenter Park, which is preserving nature on the banks of Sangamon River, and Washington Park and botanical gardens on the southwest side of the city are main attractions for all ages.
