The Parish seat of Lincoln Parish, Louisiana is the city of Ruston which was founded in 1883 and was incorporated as a town in 1884. The city is situated on the eastern border of the Ark-La-Tex. The present mayor of Ruston is Dan Hollingsworth. As reported in the 2005 U.S. census, its population reached up to the figures of 20, 667.
The town is a home to Louisiana Tech University and as of the year 2005, the official student enrollment to the university was approximately 11,710. The manufacturing of North and South Rock Railroad in 1901 encouraged further development in the region. The area since progressed remarkably.
The City of Ruston has been an active member of the National Trust for Historic Preservations Main Street Program for the last 15 years. Museum built in the memory of great American icon, Eddie G. Robinson, is another Lincoln Parishs attraction. As a coach of the Gambling State University Tigers, Robinson has been serving the football world for more than 50 years terrifically.
In 1985 he won the best coach title in college football history, beating Paul Bear Bryant of the University of Alabama with 324 wins. An exhibit of Eddie G. Robinson Museum can be seen at the Stadium Support Facility on the campus of Grambling State University.
