The population grew and reached up to 2, 032 inhabitants as of 2000. Cooperstown has been known as the Village of Museums for many years. It housed such museums as the Indian Museum, The Carriage and Harness Museum and The Woodland Museum etc which would receive huge visits until they were closed.
