The 11th most populous city in the state of Colorado is the city of Boulder. It is located in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, just 35 miles northwest of Denver. It has been dubbed the city nestled between the mountains and reality.

The population density is 1,499.9/km?, which results in making Boulder's population density higher than Denvers and among the highest in the state. People from different races are residents here, like Black/African American, Asian, Pacific Islander, and Hispanic or Latino/Latina of any race, and a few others.
The most prominent one is the White Race, who is 88.33%. The City of Boulder is in Boulder Valley where the Rocky Mountains the Great Plains. The Boulder Valley was first the home of Indians, primarily the Southern Arapaho tribe who maintained a village near Haystack Mountain. Utes, Cheyennes, Comanches, and Sioux were occasional visitors to the area.
The first non-native settlement in Boulder County was established by Gold seekers on October 17, 1858 at Red Rocks near the entrance to Boulder Canyon. On February 10, 1859, the Boulder City Town Company was organized by the first president, A.A. Brookfield, and 56 shareholders.
Boulder City grew slowly as it developed as a supply base for miners going into the mountains in search of gold and silver. Boulder City residents provided these miners with equipment, agricultural products, housing and transport services, and gambling and drinking establishments.
Economic stability in the city was a necessity, thus, the residents encouraged the establishment of railroad service, hospital and school buildings, and a stable town government.
The first schoolhouse and the University of Colorado were built in 1860 in Boulder. Transportation was improved in 1873 with railroad service coming to Boulder. City government was formalized on Saturday, November 4, 1871 when the town of Boulder was incorporated and the first mayor was Jacob Ellison.
Amenities and health services were developed, even in periods of little growth. The first Post Office was established in 1860, whereas, the telegraph became available in 1874, then a hospital was built in 1873, which was followed by a water system that was installed in 1874, and the first bank was built in 1874.
Today, the city has earned a lot of fame and has gained titles from various magazines and researchers, such as, in 1989, Outside Magazine called the City of Boulder as the Best Sports Town; in 1991, the New York Times Magazine called Boulder The Town that Cant Sit Still; For Hikers, Skiers, Browsers - Boulders Just Your Cup of Tea, by Dallas Morning News, in 1995; 30 Best Cities for Small Businesses by Entrepreneur, 1996; 10 Great Places to Raise a Family, by Parenting Magazine, 1997; Top U.S.
Arts Destinations, by Travel Weekly, 1999 and it ranked the same year, Boulder was also ranked #1 as the Best Sports Town in America by Outside Magazine; and so on.
The most important and recent ones include the number one ranking with the titles of Top 20 Boom Towns- 2004, Best Place to Live- 2005, America's Smartest Cities - 2006, and in 2008, Boulder was ranked as number one by the Forbes Magazine as The Most Educated City in America.

The city consists of more than 300 restaurants featuring local, regional and international cuisine; more than 30 art galleries, 4 local museums, 32 movie & stage theaters and many festivals, including the Colorado Shakespeare Festival and the Colorado Music Festival.
