Upper Darby Township that was once a part of Darby Township was founded on August 30, 1736 as a result of its split from the Darby Township and was settled by a religious group of Friends of Quakers.

With the capacity of upholding 1650 viewers, the Performing Arts Center attracts a large number of audiences not only from the local areas but also from the surrounding areas of New Jersey, Philadelphia and Delaware County etc. every year. The up coming events that are scheduled for the month of July include Peter Pan, which is one of the most popular musical for children. The musical is scheduled for one show on July 9, two shows on July 10 and one Show on July 11. Following Peter Pan is another Childrens musical, Elliot and The Magic Bed, on 16 July, 17 July (2 Shows) and 18 July.

Later on July 23, July 24 and July 25, the Performing Arts Center will be hosting Alice in the Wonderland, Jr. with two shows on July 24. Pinocchio, A Real Boy is another musical for children that would be staged on July 30 and Jul 31 (2 Shows).

That series of events dont just end with the end of July, on August 1 the arts center would be hosting Pinocchio, A Real Boy and My Favorite Year on the same day and My Favorite Year on August 2 as well. Following these events is School house Rock Live, Jr. which is considered to be one fun educational ride for the kids.

The show would be staged on August 6, August 7 (2 Shows) and August 8. Also on August 8 My Favorite Year would be staged yet again, with another show on August 9. Some other events of August include Willy Wonka Jr. that will be held on August 13, August 14 (2 Shows) and August 15.
