Stateline
An unincorporated town, Stateline is situated on Lake Tahoe"s east shore, in Douglas County, Nevada, United States. Stateline takes its name from its situation on the southern shore of Lake Tahoe, to the East of the California-Nevada state line.

It has a total area of 0.8 square miles, of which 7/8th constitutes land and the rest of the 1/8th of water. It is situated at an elevation of 6260 feet. Nearby cities include Zephyr Cove-Round Hill Village, NV, Kingsbury, NV, Zephyr Cove, NV, South Lake Tahoe, CA, Genoa-Jacks Valley, NV, Minden, NV, Gardnerville, NV, and Indian Hills, NV. Major nearby cities with population above 1000, 000 people include Los Angeles, CA, Sacramento, CA, and Carson City, NV.

Stateline has a very low population density of 1803 people per square mile, and according to the 2000 census report, the town has a total population of 1215, with 510 households, and 245 families. This population number, however, is subject to change as it increases in the summer and winter seasons due to the attractions of the area.

On any normal day, the day time population change in Stateline amounts to some 5,032 people. These are those people who commute from different areas for careers and work. Workers who reside as well as work here amount to a mere 405.

Many races also reside in Stateline. White non-Hispanic make up 58.6%, Hispanic 29%, Filipino 3.8%, Korean 2.2%, American Indian 1.8%, Chinese 1.4%, and Black around 1.2%. 251 residents of Stateline are foreign born. 14.4% of the population descent can be traced back to the Irish, 13.2% to the Germans, 7.6% to the English, 7.5% to the Italian, 3.5% to the Norwegians, and 3.0% to the French Canadians.

Stateline provides a variety of jobs for its people, as well as those for nearby cities. Most men are engaged in arts, entertainment, and recreation (42%), 18% in accommodation and food services, 10% in construction, 4% in finance and insurance, 3% in real estate, rental, and leasing, another 3% in other transportation, support activities and couriers, and 3% in repair and maintenance.

Most common industries engaging females are arts, entertainment, and recreation, which employ 27% females, 23% in accommodation and food services, 12% in real estate, rental and leasing, 12% in health care, 5% involved in imparting educational services, 4% employed in private households and 3% involved in apparel.

Based on data collected from over 4000 weather stations, it can be safely stated that Stateline has very pleasant weather. Average temperatures ranges between 30 to 60 degrees Fahrenheit in summer and winter months.

Humidity is high, whereas precipitation is very low compared to the country average. As is usually the case, winter months are cloudy or partly cloudy, whereas, summer months of July, August, and September are clear months.

Stateline has a very vast variety of accommodations available which make up a very major part of it appeal. It very proudly boasts of 6 casinos, 4 of which qualify as resorts - MontBleu (formerly Caesar's), Harrah's Lake Tahoe, Horizon, and Harvey's Lake Tahoe. The Lakeside and Bill's cater to locals and low-rollers.

Many of the hotels in the neighboring town of South Lake Tahoe, California organize buses to take residents to the casinos in Stateline. Stateline and South Lake Tahoe are effectively one town, with the state line intersecting with US Highway 50 immediately after the Harrah's and Harvey's casinos.

Another well-known feature of Stateline is Kingsbury Grade, also known as Nevada state route 207, which runs up and over a mountain pass, rising from Lake Tahoe and dropping down to Gardnerville on the other side.

Most of Stateline's residential and seasonal accommodation, amenities and services are located on or near Kingsbury Grade. The route, however, can be difficult in the winter months and hence, snow chains are essential during this time.

Stateline"s median household income is below the Nevada state average. Its black race population percentage is also below that of the State average. Around 70% of the population of Stateline drives a car alone, whereas around 20% do a car pool, 5% walk, and the remaining 5% take a bus or a taxi to work.

The most commonly used heating fuel in Stateline is utility gas, with the remaining using electricity. Major TV broadcast stations covering in Stateline include K38FW, K33CN, and K43DB.
