Details of Shreveport and the Ticket Luck value
Shreveport
Shreveport-Louisiana, was born in the 1830"s by a Shreve Town Company. The company"s job was to develop a township at the juncture of the Red River and the Texas trail which conveniently takes the route independently to the Republic of Texas which initiated its route to Mexico earlier.
Before referring to the Shreveport and its building and transforming in a city now, it is appropriate to give a brief account on the Red River and Bossier City. This description will remove all the vagueness towards the names attached in forming of the Shreveport city.
The Red River had been cleared of the 180 miles debris that clogged its channels from the time immemorial. It was the work of Captain Henry Miller Shreve, who gave orders to the US Army Engineers then to, deliver the operation. The Shreve Town Company was named after Captain Shreve and hence, in 1871, Shreve was integrated as a city. However, Shreveport was restricted by the Caddo Indians.
The region which was occupied by the Indians became a disputed area between the countries of France and Spain, which later on was forwarded to the United States. From the outset the Caddoes were border Indians, there fore their relations with the Europeans and later with the Americans were somewhat different from that of tribes inhabiting undisputed territory.
They were interesting people, who being a minority were never discussed much by the whites. In as much as the native background as expressed in customs, traditions, and location brought about a change in the general relations of the inhabitants with the white men it seems necessary to put together such information as is available concerning the tribes for the period before the white man came into their territory.
The Shreveport city cannot be named without the mentioning of the Bossier City. The Bossier City happens to be the sister city of Shreveport, which came into being in the late 1880"s and was integrated in the 1907. They both have to their credit around six historic districts and landmarks noted on the National Register.
