Known for its oak trees is the Capital of State of North Carolina - Raleigh. Raleigh is city in County Wake and earned a moniker "City of Oaks" for its many oak trees. According to US Census 2006, the city had a population of 356,21. However, statistics showed that this population continued to increase up to 372, 320 by January 2008. Raleigh is also considered among the fastest growing cities in US.
The region received its name after the creation of Research Triangle Park in 1959. The Park was located midway between the cities of Raleigh and Durham. While almost the entire city is located in the County Wake, a small portion of Raleigh extends into neighboring Durham County. The neighborhoods surrounding Raleigh encompass the towns of Cary, Garner, Wake Forest, Apex, Holly Springs, Clayton, and Knightdale.
Raleigh lies with the moderate subtropical climate zone which receives moderate temperatures in the spring, fall, and winter. The region receives hot and humid summers and mild to cold winters. In 2008, Forbes magazine ranked Raleigh number 1 out of the top 200 "Best Places For Business And Careers".
Culture
Raleigh enjoys a rich, strong cultural history and roots and is unparalleled in its ability to entice visitors. The Time Warner Cable Music Pavilion at Walnut Creek arranges major international tours. The Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts complex is home to the Raleigh Memorial Auditorium, the Fletcher Opera Theater, the Kennedy Theatre, and the Meymandi Concert Hall. Also were hosted the headline acts by Dorton Arena during the North Carolina State Fair.
If you"re up to enjoying a live theater performance, the Raleigh Little Theatre, Long View Center, Theatre in the Park, and Stewart Theater at North Carolina State University are few great places to come at.

Recreation
Stroll along the picturesque parks and tranquil settings in the region exploring the city"s wealth of its green spaces. While strolling down the narrow streets, you may come across vibrant Hispanic culture.
The Raleigh Parks and Recreation Department offers a diverse array of leisure opportunities at more than 150 sites throughout the city with 8,100 acres of park land, 54 miles of greenway, 22 staffed community centers, a BMX championship-caliber race track, 112 tennis courts among 25 locations, 5 public lakes, and 8 public swimming facilities and many.
