Flint
The City of Flint is located in the County of Genesee in the state of Michigan. The city covers 33.6 sq. miles of land along with 0.4 sq miles of water region. The city of Flint was settled as a village in 1818, while it was incorporated as a city in 1855. Around that time the town became known for its lumber industry and soon Wooden Horse-Drawn Carriages became town's specialty. After some innovations and time, this carriage industry transformed into Motor Vehicle Industry as Buick Motor Company made a move to Flint from Detroit.
Around that time couple of other major Motor Companies also moved in to Flint and the town became famous for its Motor Vehicle industry. Also during the World War II, City's automobile industry contributed substantially in providing the army with tanks and other heavy artillery due to large facilities based in the city of Flint. Flint is also famous for its Sit down Strike that started in 1936 and remained till 1937. That strike later gave birth to labor unions. Ever since 1960 the population, investments and the industrialization in the city started declining mainly because of the decline in the American Automobile Industry.
However substantial efforts for the redevelopment of the city has been made by the locales inform of encouraging small to mid sized investors to invest in the city and by providing them tax relieves. The results of these efforts started showing up soon enough in form of renovation of a number of historical buildings of the town, by expansion of high education programs at the local universities and the recent establishment of University Park, a planned residential community. And for higher education, University of Michigan, Kettering University, Baker College, Mott Community College, and Davenport University is also located in the city.

Every year, Flint Cultural Center hosts a diverse array of events every year for all kinds of audiences. Flint Cultural Center offers a campus-like setting and incorporates Buick Gallery and Research Center, Flint Institute of Arts, Flint Institute of Music, Flint Youth Theatre, Longway Planetarium, The Whiting and the Sloan Museum. Other attractions include Flint Children's Museum, Flint Farmers Market, and many other places worth seeing.
