Battle Creek
Battle Creek is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan, in northwest Calhoun County, at the confluence of the Kalamazoo and Battle Creek Rivers. It is the principal city of the Battle Creek, Michigan Metropolitan Statistical Area, which encompasses all of Calhoun County. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 53,364.
The Basis of Fame
Battle Creek, known as the "Cereal City", is the world headquarters of Kellogg Company, founded by Will Keith Kellogg in 1906, whose brother, Dr. John Harvey Kellogg, invented cold breakfast cereal as an alternative to the traditional meat-based breakfast.
It is also the home of Post Cereals, which was part of General Foods Corporation at one time, and is now part of Kraft Foods.

Binder Park Zoo
Opening in 1977, Binder Park Zoo is a zoo located near Battle Creek, Michigan, which features a large array of animals and plants, including their Wild Africa Exhibit. Binder Park Zoo is one of the largest zoos in Michigan.
It includes a train, tram, and a recently added carousel. In the near future, the zoo is adding a theater. It is a member of the American Zoo and Aquarium Association and the prestigious World Zoo Association.

Linear Park
The Battle Creek Linear Park offers a beautiful and safe trail for walking, jogging, cycling, and skating. It joins many picturesque spots for fishing in the Battle Creek and Kalamazoo rivers, canoeing or a picnic. Over 17 miles of paved pathway winds through wooded areas, open fields, parks, and even some commercial areas.
Marker posts along the way let you measure your progress in miles or kilometers and to set training goals. Historical, cultural and point of interest signs are also found along the way.
Art Center of Battle Creek
The Art Center of Battle Creek opened it's doors in 1948. This year we celebrate 60 years devoted to providing the community with arts and culture!
Since its founding, the mission of the Art Center of Battle Creek has been to present high quality programs in the visual arts for the enrichment, education and enjoyment of the citizens of Battle Creek, Michigan and beyond.
The Art Center, a non-profit organization is the primary visual arts organization for a service area of some 140,000. It takes seriously its responsibility to serve a diverse constituency and employs a variety of means by which to do so.
Conclusion
Battle Creek was also featured in the T.C. Boyle novel The Road to Wellville and the movie of the same name. Battle Creek is currently the 3rd largest city in Michigan, by area, after Detroit and Grand Rapids. A place like Battle Creek is not to be missed if you are on a tour to Calhoun County.
