Aberdeen Room Archives and Museum
The open houses have always been contributing actively to many activities and celebrations took place in Aberdeen. In February 1991, the Aberdeen room was merged under the name of the Aberdeen Room Archives and Museum, Inc. Businesses, organizations and students avail themselves of the facility for research for their assignments and projects.
U.S. Army Ordnance Museum
U.S Army Ordnance Museum exhibits a striking eclectic collection of army artifacts dating from the American Revolution. The displayed items include German Railroad Gun, Gatling Gun and General Pershing"s Locomobile. You can visit anytime between 10:00 am to 4:45 pm and entrance is free.
Parks & Recreation
The Aberdeen Parks & Recreation is known for offering many youth and adult programs. It has got weight lifting rooms, little league baseball, aerobic classes and the list goes on.
Aberdeen Proving Ground Recreation and Community
Aberdeen Proving Ground once again offers Golf Courses to the public utilizing the day pass system. Visitors are requested to keep a valid picture ID and vehicle registration along to show while entering though the Route 715 gate from Route 40.
Aberdeen Swim Club
Another recreational spot is the Olympic size swimming pool which remains open during the summer months. In addition, you can also have a volleyball court; large picnic area and Health & Fitness Club.
Festival Park
The old school athletic field was revamped into a Festival Park with a pavilion in 1990. Its pavilion is used as an outdoor bandstand and playground area. There"s also a picturesque landscaping offering a refreshing atmosphere.
Aberdeen Ironbirds
Aberdeen Ironbirds is mutually owned by Cal Ripken Jr. and Brother Billy. It"s a minor league baseball team and plays at Ripken Stadium.
Aberdeen Proving Ground
Aberdeen is home to the U.S. Army"s Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG) and was established by Act of Congress. APG is headquarters of the United States Army Test and Evaluation Command (ATEC) and came into operation in 1918.
The proving ground is covering an area of more than 72,500 acres in Harford County. Estimated figure shows there"re 5,000 military personnels and more than 7,500 civilians working at APG.
Aberdeen Senior Citizens Center
Aberdeen Senios Citizens center opened its door for senior citizens with a grand opening on April 21, 1995. There"s a recreation at the center and many planned activities. It also offers lunch daily at a reduced price.
Boys & Girls Club
This club was constructed to serve youth particularly and was operational in December 1994. It attracts more than 150 young boys and girls everyday. Currently, 1,300 youths between the ages of 6 and 18 have an active Boys & Girls Club membership. The club features positive programs and activities building constructive places for kids.
Aberdeen Media
WAMD is Aberdeen"s local radio station and is broadcasting at 970 on the AM dial. Harford County publications, The Record and The Aegis provide local newspaper coverage.
