As young children, brothers Peter and Sam enjoyed singing and experimenting with their guitar while playing in the garage of their house. Soon they decided to make their own music and thus Chevelle was formed informally in the year 1995. The band’s name was chosen based on their common passion for cars. The brothers performed at various small clubs and venues until they were approached by the record label ‘Squint Entertainment’ to make their debut into the professional music world.  

Chevelle’s first record ‘Point #1’ came out in 1999. Though it was well received commercially, some critics pointed out to the similarity and resemblance it bared to the vocals and guitar lines of the music band ‘Tool’. However with their second album ‘Wonder What’s Next’, the band put to rest all criticisms that were directed towards its credibility and originality. Tracks like ‘The Red’ and ‘Send the Pain Below’ carried the 90s alternative rock angst into the 21^st century with a fresh appeal. However, it was in 2004 with the release of their third record ‘This type of thinking could do us in’ that the band reached the peak of its success. The lead single of the album ‘Vitamin R’ made it to the top of the Mainstream Rock Chart. During this time, the youngest brother Joe Loeffler left the band and was replaced by the current bassist, Dean Bernardini. 

In 2006, the band produced their first album with the new bassist called ‘Vena Sera’. The first single of the record, ‘Well Enough Alone’ was dedicated to their brother and former band member, Joe Loeffler. It peaked at number 4 on the Mainstream Rock Chart. 

Chevelle came up with their fifth album ‘Sci-Fi Crimes’ in 2009. The themes, lyrics and subjects of the singles in this record were different than those from their previous compositions. Songwriter Pete Loeffler whose work had earlier reflected and portrayed various personal situations and feelings, now surprised his audience with intriguing lyrics about strange mysteries, conspiracies and sleeping disorders.

Towards the end of 2011, the rock band presented ‘Hats Off to the Bull’, their sixth studio record. The compositions of this album were again a conscious effort on the part of the members to introduce new sounds and effects into their signature music style. In this album, rather than an aggressively dramatic and loud approach, the music grows steadily making each note powerful and impactful. Besides six studio albums, Chevelle has also produced live CDs and DVDs. These include ‘Live from the road’ (2003), ‘Live from the Norva’ (2003) and ‘Any last words (2011).

Over the years, Chevelle has entertained the listeners with some of the most popular rock numbers. These include ‘Letter From a Thief’, ‘Hats off to the Bull’, ‘Same Old Trip’, ‘The Clincher’, ‘Still Running’, ‘Envy, Pinata’, ‘Send The Pain Below’, ‘Closure’, ‘The Meddler’, ‘Jars’, ‘Vitamin R’, ‘Another Know it All’, ‘The Red’, ‘Face To The Floor’ and ‘I Get It’.
