Limp Bizkit is an American nu metal band from Jacksonville, Florida that was founded in 1995 and has been active since then, except for four years between 2005 and 2009. Its music has been released by such record labels as Mojo Records, Geffen Records, Cash Money Records, Interscope Records and Flip Records. It has also been associated with such bands and artists as Black Light Burns, La Coka Nostra, House of Pain, Big Dumb Face, Birdman, Lil Wayne,Kevin Rudolf, Jonathan Davis and the SFA and Korn. Limp Bizkit's original lineup was home to vocalist Fred Durst, guitarist Wes Borland, bassist Sam Rivers, drummer John Otto and turntables, samples and programming by DJ Lethal. It is particularly known for some of the most vibrant live concerts. To date, its albums have sold a massive forty million copies worldwide and the band has received many awards, including three Grammy Award nominations. The band began playing music in the underground music scene in Jacksonville during the nineties and were then signed onto Flip Records, releasing their first album in 1997, titled Three Dollar Bill, Yall$.

In 1999, Limp Bizkit released their second album, titled Significant Other and then, in 2000, released Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water. By then, they had performed at such festivals as Big Day Outfestival and Woodstock 99.  in 2003, they released an album titled Results May Vary, followed by The Unquestionable Truth Part 1 in 2005. Soon after, the band went on hiatus but returned in 2009, reuniting, touring and released an album titled Gold Cobra in 2011. Today, they are signed onto Cash Money Records and are hard at work recording a seventh album.

The band was founded by Fred Durst who, at a young age, had grown fascinated with hip hop, breakdancing, heavy metal and punk rock. At the time, he was working as a tattoo artist when he started working on a band. While a member of 10 Foot Shindig, he met bassist Sam Rivers and founded the band, with drummer John Otto, Sam Rivers' cousin, joining the band as a drummer. The trio began writing songs and were soon joined by Wes Borland as the guitarist.  Fred Durst chose a name that was unique, which would repel some but attract many who would become ardent fans of the band. Their local popularity grew exponentially, with Sugar Ray opening up for them at one concert, despite him being a major label artist and they an underground band.

Their live concerts, often featuring guitarist Wes Borland in costumes, attracted many fans. While Korn was performing in Jacksonville, Fred Durst managed to get bandmember Reginald 'Fieldy' Arvizu to listen to a demo, which led to Korn signing the band to two concerts in their tour. DJ Lethal soon joined the band and they were soon signed onto Mojo Records, part of MCA Records and then with Flip Records, part of Interscope Records.  They recorded a debut album, which was particularly influenced by metal band Tool, which was released in 1997.

After the bands reunion in 2009, they launched a new album dubbed Gold Cobra which was released to much critical and commercial acclaim, from the likes of Allmusic and Metal Hammer. It soon sold more than eighty thousand copies and ranked high on the Billboard 200 chart. Their next album contained a track featuring Lil Wayne and in 2015, they announced a tour that would visit many cities in the US, perform at Welcome to Rockville and the Carolina Rebellion as well as at the Rock Am Ring in Germany. They have received three Grammy Award nominations, three American Music Awards and one American Music Award, the Billboard Music Video Award's Maximum Vision Award, two Blockbuster Awards for the Favorite Group, a MuchMusic Award, an ECHO Award, the Kerrang!
