As one of the first bands to have a following on the internet, they were signed onto Elektra Records and then released their first major label album, A Picture of Nectar. In 1992, they performed at the H.O.R.D.E festival and performed with artists such as Carlos Santana, touring all over the US and Europe. In 1995, their live album, A Live One, was certified gold. By this time, their songs were ranking high up the charts with positions such as eleventh on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. From 2001 onwards to 2003, the band went on hiatus and returned in 2003 for a tour and a festival that attracted more than sixty thousand fans, a record for the region. In 2004, before the band’s breakup, they released the album Undermind and performed live at what looked like their final show with around sixty five thousand fans attending despite heavy rains spreading over a week.
Phish’s reunion occurred in 2009 and saw them perform at festivals such as Bonnaroo as the headliner and releasing the album Joy. In 2010, they performed live at the Austin City Limits Music Festival. In 2012, they again headlined at the Bonnaroo music festival where many lined up to watch them live via Phish tickets.
