An Italian by birth, Frankie Valli was born in New Jersey on May 3, 1937. Since 1960, he has been achieving international fame both as a solo artist and as a lead singer of the band "The Four Seasons".  Inspired by Frank Sinatra at a very young age, he decided to change his name to Frankie Valley because of his infatuation with Jean Valley who was yet another female artist that he admired. His first single titled "My Mother's Eyes" was a huge success. In late 50s, he worked with Tommy DeVito, Nick Massi and Majewski who were collectively known as 'The Variety Trio'. The Four Seasons was their new name which was kept after a bowling alley that refused to give them work. Valli, was the Italian adaptation of Valley.  DeVito and Majewski departed in 1960 and the new members who took their place were Bob Gaudio and Nick Massi.  The group gave their first super hit "Sherry", which was penned down by Gaudio, the keyboard player of 'The Four Season'. The band got its first international recognition through its performance on American Bandstand which shot up the track to the first position and helped the band get its first gold record. Their second hit was also written by Gaudio titled "Big Girls Don't Cry". These songs remained number one for at least five to six weeks unless other hit singles were released by The Four Seasons. "Walk like a Man", "Ain't That a Shame", "Rag Doll" and "Marlena", are some of the tracks that remained on the top for very long.  With these hits Frankie Valli and The Four Season managed to sell around 100 million records. With this success they ended up being known as Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons.

 
In 1966, Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons reached the third position on the charts. Their hits included "Let's Hang On", "Can't Take My Eyes Off of You", "I Make a Fool of Myself" and "To Give (the Reason I Live)."You're Gonna Hurt Yourself" attained a No. 2 position on the pop charts which was followed by a golden number, "C'mon Marianne". For the next couple of years, Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons toured extensively, performing live to jam-packed crowds all over Europe, America and Asia. Their performance at the Paramount Theater was a major highlight for taking their stature of success to newer heights and pulling fans including crazy females screaming just at the sight of the band.

 
"My Eyes Adored You", "Swearin' to God" were another chart buster tracks given by the band in 70s. These songs were of the disco genre and therefore attracted a new breed of fans interested in contemporary music. "December, 1963 (Oh, What a Night)" was the last track that charted to the top position for 3 weeks consecutively on the charts with the fantastic tune and lyrics. With the title track of Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta starrer "Grease", they topped the charts once again at the closing of the 70s. This was a huge success as the entire soundtrack was a best seller. "Young Girls Don't Cry" included in the soundtracks of Dirty Dancing and Babycakes was another feather in the cap of success for the band. In 1990, Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons entered into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The band was very successful in the 1970s and critics of Billboard Magazine used to call it the "longevity champ of the rock era".
