Alkaline Trio is a punk rock band from Chicago. Their music is characterized by dark lyrics, catchy choruses, fast tempos. Alkaline Trio enlists Matt Skiba on guitar/Vocals, Dan Andriano on bass/Vocals, and Derek Grant on drums/back-up vocals.

They recur subjects of love, alcoholism, depression, fire, drugs, and death. The band was formed in December 1996. The original line-up consisted of Matt Skiba (guitar/lead vocals), Rob Doran (bass/vocals), and Glenn Porter (drums/vocals).

The year 1997 saw the release of Alkaline Trios first EP, Sundials. Shortly after its release, Rob Doran left the band. Alkaline Trio came up with their second EP, entitled For Your Lungs Only, in 1998.

The album built them a sizable fanbase in the American Midwest. They were signed to Asian Man Records who released the bands first full length album, Goddamnit the same year.

The group came up with their second album Maybe I'll Catch Fire in 2000, released again on Asian Man Records. In addition, they compiled a collection of their previously released EPs on their self-titled album.

Alkaline Trios release From Here To Infirmary was their first step towards the mainstream. Issued on Vagrant Records, the album spawned music videos for the singles Stupid Kid and Private Eye.

Another Innocent Girl, Crawl, and Armageddon were some of the songs from the album that brought attention to the band. Good Mourning was their next full-length album, released in 2003.

The album launched a single We've Had Enough seeing much the same success as the previous single Stupid Kid.

The band released their fifth studio album, Crimson, on Vagrant Records in May 2005. The album featured the single Time to Waste which proved to be a big success.

Later that year, a dual-disc special edition re-release of Crimson hit store shelves. In addition, Alkaline Trio appeared on various compilation albums, notably Plea for Peace Vol. 1, Vagrant Records: Another Year on the Streets Vol. 1, 2, and 3, and Rock Against Bush Vol. 1. In October 2006, it was announced that Alkaline Trio had signed with V2 Records.

In January 2007, the North America branch of V2 Records announced that they were undergoing restructuring. Therefore, the band began listing Epic Records as its label on their MySpace during May 2007.

In February 2008, Asian Man Records came up with a 10th Anniversary reissue of the band's 1998 full length, Goddamnit. The album was repackaged with new artwork and a feature length DVD documentary about the band's early days. It was remixed and remastered, with 4 bonus tracks from their 1996 demo tape added.

In the first quarter of the year 2008, the band announced to release their upcoming album, titled Agony & Irony on July 1st, 2008.

They made a new song titled In Vein available as an exclusive as a gift for members. First week sales for the album placed Alkaline Trio at number 13 on the Billboard album charts.

At present, Alkaline Trio is part of a very large circle of Chicago punk/hardcore bands. Their powerful music with thundering rhythms and howling guitars make the audiences fall in love with their music all over again!
