The Violent Femmes Tickets
Violent Femme is an alternate American rock band, formed in the early 80's. Initially an acoustic punk band playing on the streets of Milwaukee, it became one of the biggest musical acts to emerge from the city. According to the Femmes, their goal was to rock harder than any other acoustic act on the planet, and it might be safe to say that for a period of time, they probably did. After a hiatus, the band has reunited and is touring, so order your Violent Femmes Tickets now to catch this great rock act, live in action.
The band comprises three members. Initially the line up consisted of Gordon Gano (Vocals and Guitars), Brian Ritchie (Bass) and Victor DeLorenzo (Drums). But the band has undergone lineup changes with drummer DeLorenzo leaving in 1993. He was replaced by Guy Hoffman, who then left the band in 2002. When the band reunited in 2013 Brian Viglione was added as drummer.
The band has released eight studio albums, with their first album being their most successful. Their eponymous debut album released in 1983 was a huge success. It became certified gold after four years and was certified platinum in eight years. That makes this album one of the fastest to achieve these ratings. The album contained some of their greatest hits including "Blister in the Sun", "Kiss Off" and "Add It Up". The success of the album meant that the Femmes became an integral part of the American music scene and garnered a huge fan following.
They followed up their first album with seven more. Despite the fact that the band lineup underwent changes and the band had periods of inactivity, they regularly kept producing music. The first album was followed by "Hallowed Ground", "The Blind Leading the Naked", "3", "why do Birds Sing?", "New Times", "Rock" and "Freak Magnet". Even though none of the albums could match the success of the first album, they produced some quality music and hit songs like the famous "Country Death Song". Their other songs like "Nightmares" and "American Music" cracked the top five on the Modern Rock Tracks. So overall they became one of the most successful alternate rock acts of the 80's and 90's, selling almost nine million albums by 2005.
The band has had a lasting influence on alternate rock. It has been suggested that MTV's "unplugged" show was inspired by the Femmes, even though they never actually appeared on the show itself. Their music has also inspired and influenced famous artists like Pink, Nirvana, John Cusak and Keith Urban. The fact that these artists have such diverse sounds, says a lot about the Femmes music and its appeal to all genres. Due to the band's success, they have toured extensively, performing in hundreds of cities all over the world. They even performed a show with the Red Hot Chili Peppers on the North Pole. They have headlined concerts alongside some of the biggest names in history, like Nirvana and that speaks volume about the band's success and abilities as performers.
Over the years the band has experimented a lot with their sound. Starting off as an acoustic punk band, they moved on to a country music sound with their second album. Their third album was more main stream and pop oriented as the band experimented with their music. But their overall sound has always had undertones of alternate rock.
The band officially disbanded in 2007 following a legal dispute. However it has just recently reunited and is currently touring to commemorate the release of their first album thirty years ago. So if you are a fan, or are just interested in listening to good music, then do check out their live performances for they are sure to rock the stage, old school style. If you have not, than hurry up and order your The Violent Femmes Tickets as soon as possible, before they run out.
