Details of Better Than Ezra and the Ticket Luck value
The popular trio of Kevin Griffin, Tom Drummond and Michael Jerome make a superb rock band known as Better Than Ezra, though it started off as a band of four college students from Louisiana State University. Currently, a fourth member - James Arthur Payne, joins the band while it is touring. Amalgamating college rock influences with ordinary desires, the band gained popularity in the 1990s and paved the way for many more alt-pop bands for years to come, including Matchbox Twenty, Third Eye Blind, and Semisonic. Producing chart topping hits like 'Good', 'In The Blood', and 'King of New Orleans', Better Than Ezra has gained a huge fan following and is widely acclaimed for the fine music it produces.
The alternative rock band that merged the college rock influences with mainstream aspirations in the late 1980s is better known as Better Than Ezra. The band formed in 1988 by four college students from Louisiana State University - Kevin Griffin doing the vocals and guitar; Joel Rundell on the guitars; Tom Drummond as the bassist; and Cary Bonnecaze on the drums. The band at first emerged as a roots rock setup that included minor basics of country and punk, and did its early performances at college bars and fraternity houses. Its first album, Surprise, was released on cassette only, in 1989, on Swell Records, and gained the band a positive response from the audience, along with the critics from the music industry. However, in the following year (1990) the band member Joel Rundell committed suicide and the band's future came at risk. The remaining three band mates first decided to go their separate ways, but they got back together as a trio before the year came to an end.
Better Than Ezra then moved to Los Angeles, hoping for the scene to change somewhat so that they can produce more records together in a new atmosphere. Soon after, in 1993, the band released its sophomore effort - Deluxe, which aided in raising the band's positive image and drew the attention of many major record labels. The band then got signed to the Elektra Records, which re-released Deluxe in 1995. The super hit track from this album 'Good' became the most demanded and aired song on the radio, due to which the album ultimately went platinum by the end of that very same year. By 1996 a new band member (Travis McNabb ) had replaced an older one (Bonnecaze), and the band released its another studio album - Friction, Baby in 1996. The album did include a few hit tracks like 'Desperately Wanting', and 'King of New Orleans', but it didn't have the same commercial success as Deluxe. Better Than Ezra then made a recording studio in the New Orleans for itself, named Fudge Studios, in which it recorded the album - How Does Your Garden Grow? (1998).
The album did not prove to be a commercial success for Better Than Ezra as a doable rock band and it parted with Elektra Records. Soon, through its official website, the band issued its first special compilation, known as Artifakt, of rare tracks. Soon, the trio got signed with the independent Beyond Music label with which they released another rone of their studio albums, Closer, in 2001. The track 'Extra Ordinary' from this album scored well on the music charts, but the band did not get another chance to release its next album under this label, as it had gone bankrupt. The band then took a break and re-emerged in 2004 with a live album - Live at the House of Blues New Orleans. This was followed by another album release in 2005 - Greatest Hits. The same year, the band got signed with the Artemis Records and released its next studio album - Before the Robots. The group's latest album is its seventh album Paper Empire, released in 2009.
The band has revived the alternative rock feel once again, making a permanent home in the hearts of millions of its fans, which are referred to as the 'Ezralites'. Better Than Ezra has sold thousands of albums worldwide and have been critically acclaimed. The band is today deemed as one of the top alt-rock bands in the music industry and is also placed among the pioneers of this genre. Currently, Better Than Ezra is touring around the nation and tickets to this event are selling like hot cakes!
