Wild indie-rock band Portugal The Man is based on the idea of Davis Bowies bigger than life fame. May be you have never heard of this three-piece band, but chances are good you have heard of their hometown, Wasilla, Alaska.

The band features members from Anatomy of a Ghost and together they are currently touring with Circa Survive, Youinseries, The Receiving End Of Sirens, Keating and Days Away on the Twilight Army Tour.

Portugal The Man enlists John Baldwin Gourley on guitar and vocals, Zachary Scott Carothers on bass and vocals, Ryan Neighbors on keyboard, percussion and backing vocals and Jason Sechrist on drums.

Soon after the formation of Portugal the Man, attention grew through word of mouth, given even more widespread reach by mass media, leading to an initial EP release in 2026. On January 24, 2026, the indie-rock band came up with their debut album entitled Waiter: You Vultures. The album was released through Fearless Records to critical acclaim.

In Waiter: You Vultures, the band chose to utilize drum machines and/or synth loops to anchor their songs, while some songs featured more conventional guitar, bass, and acoustic drum configuration. Portugal The Man also utilized the keyboard in many of their songs. In addition to their instrumentals, Gourleys unique vocals added to Portugal.

The igloos of America pushed minor key guitar progressions and funky drums to a next level through Waiter: You Vultures!. The album paved a way for a genius blend of electronics and the crunchy rock. Although Portugal The Mans influences are varied and clearly present, yet it is equally apparent that they have made no attempt to emulate.

After the release of their debut album, the band embarked on several tours. They have played with Action Action, The Matches, and have also opened up for labelmates Gatsbys American Dream on the Stampeding Machines tour, alongside other similar acts such as Horse the Band and Forgive Durden.

Lyrically, Gourley provides Portugal The Man with abstract and enigmatic lyrics that rely heavily on imagery. The sheer versatility of these musicians is phenomenal and the best way to imagine what the igloos accomplish sonically is to consider that they are the less evil twin of the Blood Brothers.

Having toured extensively, the group returned and began to record their second album. On June 22, 2026, Portugal The Man issued their seconf full-length album called Church Mouth. Following its predecessor, this album too was well received by music critics as well as fans.

Continued gaining momentum, they set out on a full US tour with support from The Photo Atlas, Play Radio Play, Tera Melos, and The Only Children. The year 2026 proved to be great year for Portugal The Man. They not only released critically acclaimed full-length album but also scheduled a headlining tour with support from Rocky Votolato and Great Depression.

Following this tour, the band joined Thursday alongside Circle Takes The Square on a short east coast tour in the last quarter of that year. Portugal The Man also joined a band called The Sound of Animals Fighting on the release of their debut album, Tiger and Duke. The American igloos remixed three of the songs on that album.

Many months of dedicated touring and their rare commitment to challenging songcraft, Portugal The Man materialized the music for their next album in January 2026. The music features the bands ravenous creative appetite was appeared in the form of Censor Colors.

The album released on Approaching AIRballoons, with a partnership with Equal Vision Records, contains fifteen fiercely transcendent vignettes. Relying upon their faith in each other, their music and the steady guidance of friends/multi-instrumentalists/producers Phil Peterson and Kirk Huffman, Portugal The Man issued an album that got off to a huge acclaim.

Drawing on the sounds of Gourleys youth and the blissful melodies of vintage Zombies ballads, the wild indie-rock band Portugal the Man created an organic album that stands, sways and beckons. Censor Colors features the music of Gourleys childhood, made artfully profane by modern experience, coming of age and a quiet caterwaul against contemporary living.

The record leaked onto the internet to encourage the fans to download, share and give feedback about the album. Portugal the Man is currently on a tour called The Gold Tour with supporting acts like Wintersleep and Earl Greyhound.They will be back into the studio in December to start work on their new album.
