Titus Andronicus
The latest entry to the big loud world of rock music is an extremely crazy and absolutely rock band from Glen Rock, New Jersey. The band is called Titus Andronicus and if you keep track of the latest happenings in the music world, then you have surely not mistaken their name as one of the Shakespearean tragedies.
Though the band has chosen the name that is certainly classic, but it is a complete rock outfit that has got the right king of music and right of attitude to make their mark on the music world.
It does not happen everyday that a band has got instant success just after their debut, but considering their oh-so-rocking kinda image, nothing is impossible for this band. Titus Andronicus push is an ambitious band that has pushed the noise-rock genre to imaginative extremes.
The band consists of Andrew Cedermark on guitar, keyboard and vocals, Ian Graetzer on bass and guitar, Eric Harm on drums, Ian O'Neil on guitar and vocals; and Patrick Stickles on vocals, guitar, keyboard and harmonica.
Formed in the spring of 2005, Titus Andronicus has earned itself a good collection of lifelong fans in a very short period of time. They are for those who like songs that are fast and crazy.
The boys like to scream and carry on at excessive volume, but hey, they are not only-noise-not-melody kind of people. Listening to Titus Andronicus is an absolutely wonderful experience as their fast-paced music cant get you at peace even for a moment.
They are a complete rock outfit with all the indie rock elements. Listen to them and you will hear the horns, harmonicas, vocal distortion, a cappella refrains, and joyful shoe stomps all in one track, but the end result is always so delightful that you will ask for more.
After three years in the making through over 18 different band members, the band has finally released its debut album in 2008. Before that the band made some appearances as self released Titus Andronicus EP, and appearing in different albums. However, the debut really made them the stars they are today.
Titled The Airing of Grievances and released by Troubleman Unlimited, the album grabbed everyones attention all of a sudden. Surprisingly, the band also got them approval of critics in their very first attempt that shows their real potential to become the next big thing in the music world.
It may be difficult to get such instant fan base and fair amount of critical attention so early, but Titus Andronicus has managed to do that just by the virtue of sheer passion and hard work they put in their work. The Airing of Grievances is nothing but an ultimate roller-coaster ride of passionate music that is made with all the senses wise open.
The band has done enough home work on every little aspect the album that made it a smooth listen through and through. While the loud, heavily distorted guitars will make you feel as the band is influenced by the shoegaze genre, the lyrics and song titles will give references to various books and other forms of entertainment that will leave you stunned at the variety the band has to offer.
The Airing of Grievances is a wild and beautiful mess that is made palatable by the band's knack for bombarding energy and accomplished arrangements. The album contains variations without straining the development of its own sound.
The lead single along with the likes of Joset of Nazereth's Blues and No Future 1 have become charts busters because of the energy and excitement they create. For rock fanatics, everything they love about rock music seems to have a home on this album.
Many people have already claimed it the best rock album of the first half of 2008. No wonder, it will get even more exposure in days to come as the band is on the roads for its promotion.
Titus Andronicus is a hot favorite band among those rock lovers for whom music means Live acts and nothing. The band became a popular touring act even before making a splash into the mainstream.
This is the band that started off by playing basements in North Carolina or a guy's living room in suburban Illinois. This was followed by some college performances in New Jersey. But now the rocking guys of Titus Andronicus are all over the place and the whole nation is going crazy over them.
So if you want to feel the heat too, then you should check out for this raw, noisy and spirited indie rock band as they will make you crazy with their power-packed performance.
