Marianas Trench was the brainchild of the lyricist, producer and guitarist, Joshua Ramsay.  He was born to parents with a strong musical background. His father owned a recording studio and his mother used to teach vocals so it was simply natural for him to fall in love with music at a very early age. His love affair and fascination with music turned him into a solo performer when he was only fourteen years old. In need of a supporting group to play with, he contacted his school friend Matt Webb to jump onboard. The duo created their first band and named it the Ramsay Fiction. Shortly afterwards both friends were on a lookout for more members to join the group and disbanded Ramsay Fiction. Their search led them to Ian Casselman the drummer and Mike Ayley the bassist. Together the four of them went to work and formed a new group named, yes you guessed it right, Marianas Trench.
 
After seeing some tough times in the early days, their perseverance finally paid off when they were signed by 604 Records, in their native Canada. That was the big break Marianas Trench members had always wanted so without wasting any time they went to work on a self-titled EP that came out in 2002. They came out with their full fledged first album titled Fix Me in 2006. The album got positive reviews from everywhere and the track Shake Tramp went on to do quite well on various charts. The song went to the top spot on iTunes Canada Digital Download and earned a Juno Awards nomination for its efforts. Marianas Trench followed it up with embarking on their first ever national tour to promote the album. It was their performance art the Virgin Festival in Vancouver that helped the group move on to the next level.
 
With confidence at an all time high the Marianas Trench started to work on their second album titled Masterpiece Theatre. The demand for the album was very high and it was a bold move to add the word Masterpiece to the title because that raised the expectations even further. A lot of effort was put in to create an album befitting its name and the title track Masterpiece Theatre I was written three times before getting the go-ahead by the members. Two more versions of the song Masterpiece Theatre II and Masterpiece Theatre III also accompanied the album. The hard work Marianas Trench members had put in paid off as soon as the album hit the music stores with it debuting at the fourth spot on the Canadian Albums Chart. The song Cross My Heart went even better and reached the number one place to become the group's second song to achieve that feat. Another track All to Myself repeated the trick and went to the top as well. The success of their platinum certified album was celebrated with another huge national tour. Marianas Trench's next album was titled Ever After and it came out on 21^st November, 2011. There were no breaks between any tracks on the album which gave the entire album the feel and sound of a single track. The song Haven't Had Enough went to the number one spot and was certified platinum.
