Halsey released her EP “Room 93” on October 27^th, 2014. A visual EP, it brought her immense popularity. Four songs from the album were released with a video. The songs in the EP are most influenced by Halsey's time in hotel rooms. According to Halsey, hotel rooms are almost like a prop place and are a fascinating phenomenon. In an interview she said that since she spent a lot of last year in hotel rooms, she sees the privacy and anonymity they offer as liberating.  It is for this reason, each of the video in the EP focused on a bunch of people in a hotel room. The song Hurricane follows a group of teens. All the videos are raw and authentic – the kids have chipped nail polish, dirty faces and clothes and none of them are paid actors, but were recruited at a skate park.

Incorporating several electronic elements, the EP is both sweeping and spacious and contains many hit numbers. All the songs are crisp, unhurried and filled with powerful beats. What gives Halsey an edge over other contemporaries is that she likes to keep listeners on their toes; while the single Hurricane entails instruments that almost sound like a squeek, another score Ghost is filled with heavy dosage of bass that isn't really fitting for its genre – the ultimate sound, nonetheless, is enough to mesmerize her listeners.

In order to finesse her sound, Halsey has collaborated with several brilliant producers who have worked with well-known artists like Sia, Lana Del Ray, Banks and Ellie Goulding.
