This was no less than a revolution in motor racing and the number of car racing lovers increased appreciably.

Initially, half-mile to one mile, oval shaped, racing tracks were used. With the construction of first "super speedway" in Darlington , 1950, the sport soared in popularity.. That track was wider, faster and higher-banked than the earlier tracks.

The car manufacturers gradually realized that they can enhance their sales by promoting such racing events. Major motor companies began to sponsor NASCAR by providing their cars. Notable among these companies were Ford Motor Company, General Motors and Chrysler. They made their own factory teams for racing. Professional racing was on its way to progress.

By the reason of economic constraints and expenses of traveling with the racecars, parts and mechanics, most of the races were held in Southeaster America. However with aid of sponsorships, races were conducted in countries besides America , including Canada and Japan.

1970's brought far-reaching changes in the history of NASCAR. The sponsorship signed with RJR Tobacco Company turned the course of NASCAR towards modernization.
