Born in Indiana, Pennsylvania on the 14^th of February, 1959, Renée Fleming, grew up in Rochester, New York. Her family roots are in Prague, where both her grandparents were born. They later moved to the United States as immigrants. A daughter to two music teachers, music was something she couldn't avoid. Her repertoire consists of Bel Canto, Mozart, Richard Strauss and musical style of French opera, jazz and indie rock. She took jazz singing in a bar off campus, called Alger's. During her time there, she worked with voice teacher, John Maloy. Renée, started her professional career as soprano singer in small concert halls, while she was still a graduate student.

Her first major breakthrough as a singer came in 1988, when she won the Opera House Auditions. She was 29 years old at the time. Ever since then she managed to establish herself as a strong soprano singer, and received several acclaims and praises over the years. The late great musical conductor Sir Georg Baldti once said that he had never come across a soprano singer with such a beautiful voice and even compared her singing qualities to another great soprano singer, Renata Tebaldi.

Renée performs regularly in opera houses. Besides singing in English, she has also performed in many other languages such as Czech, German, Russian and also in Italian.
