The Brooklyn Rider performed at the Lincoln theatre for the very first time during the 2011-2012 season, a performance which was a part of the Tully Scope Festival that was held for the first time as well. Also in the same season, the quartet went on two national tours as well as their debut tour to China on which they performed live in Hong Kong and Beijing. Brooklyn Rider also gave their debut performances at the Carnegie Hall that same season. The quartet also embarked on North American Tours during the fall and winter season as well as a European tour on which they were accompanied by Kayhan Kalhor, a Persian virtuoso. The group also recorded for Brooklyn Rider Plays Phillip Glass and also gave a live performance during the U.S Open. Over the recent few years, The group has also enjoyed the privilege of being the only classical musical group that was invited to perform at the American Academy in Rome, Cologne Philharmonie, Spoleto Festival, SXSW Festival, the Kimmel Center and the Malmo Festival in Sweden.
Since their formation, the group has been using the language of the stringed instruments to help communicate with their audience members. Over that period, the group has not only performed their own interpretations of the currently existing works, they've also created and performed their own original pieces. During that journey over time, the quartet has also had a chance of performing alongside the composers like Philip Glass, Derek Bermel, Dmitri Yanov Yanovsky, Jenny Scheinman, Ljova, Osvaldo Golijov and Lisa Bielawa. Apart from working with these composers, the quartet has also collaborated with other musicians such as Armenian Artist Kevork Mourad, Chinese virtuoso Wu Man, Irish Martin Hayes and Japanese Kojiro Umezaki.
The Brooklyn Rider made their recording debut with the release of their debut album called Passport. The album was released on In a Circle Records that was created by the violinist Johnny Gandelsman back in 2008. The Passport was then following by yet another released in 2010 called Dominant Curve. Both of the releases enjoyed significant amount of success and received positive reviews.
The musicians of the quartet have also ventured into various other things apart from performing in Brooklyn Rider. The brothers Eric and Colin Jacobsen are also the Knights' co-founders. The Knights is an orchestra that is based in New York and features all the other members of the quartet as well. In 2006, the quarter also laid foundation to the Stillwater Music Festival on which Brooklyn Rider showcases their new works. Brooklyn Rider has also played its role in being the educators by having residencies at the MacPhail Center for the Arts, Texas A&M University, University of North Carolina and Williams College.
