Tommy Emmanuel belongs to Muswellbrook, New South Wales, Australia. He was born in 1955. While he was just four years old he got his first guitar. He often comments that while he was seven years old, he heard acclaimed guitarist Chet Atkins on local radio and immediately decided to follow his footsteps.
