Madeleine Peyroux was born in Athens Georgia in 1974. While she was just a kid, her parents wanted her to become an actor. After they divorced Peyroux moved with her mom and decided to pursue a career in music instead of acting. She got the inspiration for this from both her parents as his father loved listening to old classic songs, whereas her mother was her fist music teacher from whom she learned how to play the instrument ukulele. At the age of fifteen Peyroux started singing with a local street musicians band called Riverboat Shufflers. Just after one year she joined another famous street musician group by the name of The Lost & Wandering Blues and Jazz Band. Peyroux till date continues to collaborate with this band which includes other seasoned musicians like Frank Schaap, Daniel William, Eugene Semyon Clark and David Alexander Shore.
 
Madeleine Peyroux is primarily a singer of blues and jazz, apart from this she is a lyricist and a guitar player. She was first noticed by music giant Atlantic Records and as a result she went on to record and release her debut album Dreamland with this company label. It failed to chart but Peyroux presence was felt by the music world. The album was recorded with some of the finest musicians in New York City namely drummer Leon parker, pianist Cyrus Chestnut, bassist Greg Cohen and guitar player Marc Ribot. Second album by Peyroux was Careless Love. This album surely catapulted her onto mainstream jazz music scene as it become her first album to enter Billboard at #71 and #5 on Australian charts. It also managed to chart at various positions in countries like UK, Spain, France and Belgium.
 
 Half the Perfect World was the third album by Madeleine Peyroux that went in music stores in 2006. Till date this is the only album by her that charted on all major charts across the globe in countries like France, Germany, UK, Australia, Belgium, New Zealand, Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland and the US. This is also the highest charting album by Peyroux on US Billboard. Since then she has released three more chart hitting albums namely Bare Bones, Standing on the Rooftop and The Blue Room.
 
Her album The Blue Room is her latest release that was produced and released by Decca Records. The album managed to enter charts at #54, #62, #31, #82, #43 respectively in countries namely Austria, US, Spain, Switzerland and UK. Apart from the debut album three have been released under Rounder Records label whereas Standing on the Rooftop and the latest album were produced by Decca. Apart from her solo albums she has also collaborated with renowned jazz harmonica player and multi-instrumentalist William Galison on the jazz album Got You on My Mind.  Currently she is represented by the famous American International Artists Company that also manages other well known artists like Sarah Pedinotti (musician and lyricist) and James Carter (saxophone, clarinet and flute player).
