In the year 2009, the Gaslight Anthem collaborated with Bruce Springsteen during one of their live performances at the Glastonbury Festival on June 27. The group was accompanied by Bruce Springsteen on stage for their song The '59 Sound. Later that evening, the frontman of the band, Brian Fallon, also performed alongside Springsteen during his performance of the song No Surrender. The following day, the band and Springsteen, repeated that collaboration at Hard Rock Calling Festival in London. Their second studio album on SideOneDummy Records was called American Slang and was released in June 2010. The album was once again released to great critical reception and soon after its release, the group embarked on a concert tour.
