Slightly Stoopid
Slightly Stoopid is an American band based in Ocean Beach, California. Throughout modern pop culture, melodic music representing the California lifestyle has always had its place. Slightly Stoopid possess a unique dynamic and its music is described as a fusion of acoustic rock and blues with reggae, hip-hop, and punk.

Slightly Stoopid is primed to be a breakout act of 2003! The band has a musical kinship so to speak, which is clearly the organic result of years growing up together, and the relentless pursuit of creating the quintessential soundtrack for the lifestyle that exists there.

The group was signed to Sublime vocalist Brad Nowell's Skunk imprint, and did two albums for the label. These were Slightly Stoopid in 1996 and Longest Barrel Ride in 1998. Bypassing from a major label, they also drew influence from the business acumen of their entrepreneurial predecessors.

The sound back then was SoCal skatepunk influenced by thrash elements and copious amounts of weed. The group of two was later rounded by drummer Rob Moran and percussionist/vocalist Oguer Ocon. Doughty and McDonalds playing and singing had matured considerably by 2001 and Live & Direct: Acoustic Roots.

The one take marvel, Lived and Direct- Acoustic Roots, featured Miles and Kyle on solely acoustic guitars and vocals, and was recorded live- warts and all, with no overdubs! After a couple of years of hardcore gigging, Slightly Stoopid delivered an unexpected surprise for their diverse audience.

The duo, complimenting each other in the realm of eclectic and acoustic rock, reggae, dub, blues, hip-hop, punk, and metal, came up with Everything You Need. By this album, the duo were rocking a California-centric sound of loopy sampledelic pop, hip-hop influence, sunny marijuana affirmations, and the occasional return to raucous skatepunk.

Slightly Stoopid have lived on the road and built a solid reputation as a bona-fide touring act. By 2002, the group had achieved headlining status throughout the Western U.S., with sell out shows from San Diego through Colorado.

Slightly Stoopids fan base was growing at a rapid pace. Girls and boys, jam band hippies, punk rock billies, skaters, surfers, and hip hoppers, it seemed all walks of life were grooving to a Stoopid show.

In 2005, the band of acoustic rock and blues came up with its most accomplished album to date, Closer to the Sun. The album was one of their fully realized efforts, featuring a tight-but-relaxed ensemble sound that reveals the benefits of hard touring.

The combo kept several of Closer to the Sun albums songs within a pop framework. The record mixed dub and reggae influences with light hip-hop and an easy groove. The bands eclectic mix of sounds found them on tours over the years with a variety of bands including the Marley Brothers, blink-182, G. Love & Special Sauce, Pennywise, and N.E.R.D.

The band continued gaining momentum and thus giving hit after hit. They came up with their live album entitled Winter Tour 05-06 in 2006. Shortly after its release, Slight Stoopid began to record and release their upcoming fifth full-length studio album. They named Mario C, Paul Leary, Miguel and Chris D produced-album Chronchitis.

Issued on Stoopid Records/Controlled Substance Sound Labs in August 2007, the album featured artists like G Love, Guru of Gang Starr, Angelo Moore of Fishbone, Toko Tasi and Money Mark. Chronchitis debuted at number 55 on the U.S. Billboard 200, selling about 12,000 copies in its first week.

Playing nearly 200 shows a year for their diverse fan base affectionately termed Ese Locos or Stoopidheads, the California band launched Slightly Not Stoned Enough To Eat Breakfast Yet Stoopid in July 2008. The album contained all 7 tracks from the EP of the same name, as well as other outtakes, rarities, and brand new studio joints.

Slightly Not Stoned Enough To Eat Breakfast Yet Stoopid is comprised of 15 tracks which are a combination of some old, some new, some original and a few covers. With their continuous versatility, swapping guitar and bass while sharing vocal duties, Miles Doughty and Kyle McDonald are keeping the Sublime sound alive.

As a band, Slightly Stoopid have released seven albums, 2 live, with their fifth studio album, entitled Chronchitis, released on August 7, 2007.

The releases reflected the California all-time favorite groups tendency to jam for nearly two hours at their gigs, focusing on improvisation and crowd interaction. There is nothing better than Slightly Stoopid, a group truly devoted to the pursuit of the perfect mix of lifestyle and sound.
