Santigold frenzy is soon to take your city in its grip with yet another enthralling live performance. Santigold, who started out her journey as a singer of the band Stiffed in 2003, is all set to make headlines with her unprecedented rapping skills and distinctive style of singing. As a solo artist she rose to fame with her debut album Santogold which was welcomed with oodles of praise and appreciation. The American singer incorporates a broad spectrum of genres in her music; New Wave, Hip-Hop, Electronica, Reggae fusion, Dub and Pop. The singer, who has often been compared to the multi-talented M.I.A for her music style, draws her inspiration from James Brown and Aretha Franklin. Santigold is known for being versatile as she not only excels at singing and rapping but is also an exceptional songwriter and a record producer. So brace yourselves for the forthcoming event by purchasing Santigold tickets which are worth every penny.
The release of the singer's first album was enough to prove her mettle as a singer. It was not only lauded by the public but also by the media as Entertainment Weekly and Spin are a concrete proof of it. The singles; Creator, L.E.S Artists and Lights Out are among the biggest hits from the album. The album itself ranked sixth on Rolling Stones' Albums of the year list while L.E.S Artists secured a second spot on Singles of the year. Thus, right after the release of her album Santigold set out on an endless tour to further promote her album. She performed with some of the biggest names in the music fraternity starting from M.I.A and Bjork to Coldplay, Jay-Z, Kanye West, and Beastie Boys. She wound up the tour in August 2009 after giving another spellbinding performance at the Lollapalooza Festival in Chicago. The festival gave a further boost to her already skyrocketing career and established Santogold as one of the best live performers. Billboard was all praise for her and stated that she "drew a headliner-sized audience".
The year 2011 received her with release of her second album called Master of My Make-Believe. This album marked Santigold's style of music which is diverse, provocative, moving and is reflective of reality. She is a musician in true sense of the word as every song of hers is an expression of her soul. Thus, The Keepers is a song from this album exemplifies it the best. Her words "I want it to be about creating your own reality" say it all about the concept behind the song. Another song titled Go featuring Karen O unleashed her signature style and earned her the much deserved acclaim. NME praised her in these words: "Great reverberating militaristic kettle drum booms". In 2008 Santigold won NME Award USA and ASCAP Pop Music Award for Best Breakthrough Artist and Vanguard Award respectively.
In 1999 Santigold collaborated with GZA for his album Beneath The Surface. She has also been considered the backbone of Res' career as most of her albums have been produced by Santigold. How I Do by Res was released in 2001 which was co-composed and produced by none other than the multi-talented Santigold. Later, she co-wrote Lily Allen's Littlest Things and Ashlee Simpson's Outta My Head was co-composed by the singer as well. 2008 paved way for even larger number of collaborations as she kicked off the year by recording a song for Converse; a collaboration with Pharrell Williams and Julian Casablancas from N.E.R.D and The Strokes respectively. The song reflected an amalgamation of their diverse personalities as artists. Later the same year, Kanye West in his song called Brooklyn Go Hard merged a piece of Santigold's song Shove It. Consequently the song reached number sixty-two on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs.
The year 2009 marked Santigold's collaborations with M.I.A, Nick Zinner and Spank Rock for the album The Spirit of Apollo. She also lent her vocals to Gifted, a song featuring Kanye West and Lykke Li. In 2010 she co-wrote two songs named Monday Morning and Bobblehead for Christina Aguilera's album Bionic. The year 2011's Don't Play No Game That I Can't Win is another song by Beastie Boys that features Santigold's vocals. She has been a part of Amadou & Mariam's album Folila in 2012 as she made her presence felt in one of their songs called Dougou Badia.
