The latter one came out to be Thicke's break through hit, as it helped him get enough fan following and exposure to release his second studio album in 2006 titled 'The Evolution of Robin Thicke.' His second album literally outsold its predecessor and sold more than 20,000 copies in the week it debuted. Almost a year before the release of the album, Thicke released the first single of his second album entitled "Wanna Love You Girl". The single was produced by Pharrell and came out to be a mega hit. The single received ample amount of airplay on various UK Radio Stations, which is why a remix version of the song, featuring Busta Rhymes, was also released later. The single that followed "Wanna Love You Girl" was the ballad "Lost without you", which also, like its precursor received substantial amount of airplay on several Urban Radio Channels and peaked at #1 Spot on Billboard Hot R&B/Hip Hop Songs. Following his first chart topping hit, Thicke also earned him the title of being the only white male singer, after George Michael, to top the R&B music chart ever. The album on its own was nothing less than a success story itself, just like the singles that it followed. Peaking at #1 spot on Billboard Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums Chart, the album sold more than 1.5 Million units in United States only, and became the highest selling album by Thicke, ever. "The Evolution of Robin Thicke" also earned him several nominations including a nomination for BET Awards, Soul Train Awards, MTV Video Music Awards, MOBO Awards, American Music Awards and VH1 Soul/VIBE Awards, along with quite a few award wins including Soul Train Award for Best R&B Album and VH1 Soul/VIBE Award for Breakthrough Artist of the Year. He also went on a tour subsequently, after the release of the album.

Following the success that he attained with the release of his second album, Thicke gave his fans his third album to listen to on September 30, 2008, which was titled 'Something Else.' The album featured hit singles like Magic, The Sweetest Love, and Dreamworld, and peaked at #3 Spot on Billboard 200, as it sold 136,944 units in its debut week.

Thicke plans to continue right from where he left after his third album, as his fourth album "Sex Therapy" is scheduled to be released on December 15, 2009. He released the first single of the album entitled "Sex Therapy" on October 20, and is all set up for his 5 upcoming performances, one of which will be at the Soul Train Awards on November 29, 2009. The other four performances are meant to be staged at the Nokia Theatre Times Square, Riviera Theatre, Warfield Theatre and Club Nokia at L.A Live.
