In 1984, another self-titled album was seen preceding two more albums which were recorded under the guidance of the rock star named Prince. In 1989, her album Time Waits for No One came out and was followed by The Voice that was seen in 1993. The esteemed People magazine gave The Voice a ranking amongst the Top Ten Albums of the Year in 1993. Spirituals & Gospels: A Tribute to Mahalia Jackson was recorded in 1996 along with Lucky Peterson a famous keyboard player. This album of Staples, honors Mahalia Jackson who happened to be a family friend of Staples and also one of those people who had a huge impact on her life.
