Details of Pet Shop Boys and the Ticket Luck value
Pet Shop Boys
The Pet Shop Boys were a particularly well-known English pop outfit in the 1980s.The main musicians in this group were Neil Tennant [main vocals, keyboards and occasionally guitar], and Chris Lowe [keyboards and occasionally heard vocals].
The music that the Pet Shop Boys created was put down as melodic pop/dance music with catchy lyrics. Starting in 1986, the group had 39 top thirty singles in the UK, 4 of which went to number 1 ["West End Girls", "Always on My Mind", "It's a Sin", and "Heart"]. The group was also successful in the U.S. However, by 1988, their success took a back seat, with last top 40 single, "Domino Dancing", only reaching number 18 on the US pop chart. Apart from the U.S., the Pet Shop Boys has had success outside the UK.
The Pet Shop Boys have recently signed a new record deal with Parlophone Records [July 2007]. The group had originally produced their albums through this label in 1985, and there had the contract renewed in 1990. The Pet Shop Boys said: "It's over 20 years since we originally signed to EMI and we're very happy to be continuing our relationship with them". Parlophone's MD, Miles Leonard, says: "What Pet Shop Boys are doing is unique. They continue to be at the vanguard of pop culture, constantly surprising and thrilling us with their every move. We are extremely pleased to have them on the label." To date, the Pet Shop Boys has sold 50 million records all over the world.
Since the mid 90s, the band members have had their public personalities. While Tennant is seen as an erudite intellectual, verbose and, articulate in speech, Lowe is almost always observed wearing his trademark hat and sunglasses. While their music was very popular, their stage acts were sometimes criticized for lacking action. However, the Pet Shop Boys refused to follow what other groups did during that time. When it comes to handling interviews, Tennant, being the more intellectual one with well-chosen words, is the primary speaker. His lengthy answers are occasionally interrupted by Lowe's generally humorous interjections.
The Pet Shop Boys call in expert programmer, Pete Gleadall, to supervise the computerized arrangements (which all run live). They also call in backing singers, including Sylvia Mason-James, and they have even had Katie Kissoon with them for vocal duties. Other musicians that the Pet Shop Boys has included in its live performances have included Jodie Linscott, Danny Cummings, and Dawne Adams for percussions.
They have had Dominic Clarke, Scott Davidson, and Peter Schwartz, forkeyboards / programming), and Mark Refoy and Bic Hayes are guitarists they have included. Late J.J. Belle who played guitars and percussion, was also part of their live stage act. With such a team for a live performance, there cannot possible be many critics of the Pet Shop Boys' stage performances today. For a pop group to have survived this long and still perform live, it can be said that the Pet Shop Boys is a well balanced and progressive band.
