So if you are one of them, we suggest you grab your Adam Ant tickets at the first opportunity you get and watch him play live and mesmerize you with his amazing talents.
Adam Ant’s real name is Stuart Leslie Goddard and he was born on 3rd November, 1954 in London. After graduating from school he went to the Hornsey College of Art to complete his graduation but he dropped out to take up a music career. His first steps in music were with a band Bazooka Joe as a bass guitarist. After sometime he left the band to start his own band by the name of B-Sides which never performed anywhere. It was during these days when he was diagnosed with anorexia and had to be hospitalized for treatment. He adopted the moniker Adam Ant when he got out of hospital along with his wife Carol Mills who started calling herself Eve.
With his illness cured, Adam Ant started to connect with his B –Sides team members again. These members were Andy Warren and Lester Square. Paul Flanagan, a drummer also got onboard to form a band called The Ants in 1977. The band was later named Adam and the Ants and the group started performing together. It was a punk group but the way they went about their music and performances was a bit more theatrical than normal punk bands. Square then left the band and was subsequently replaced by Mark Gaumont. Adam and the Ants released their first album “Dirk Wears White Sox” in 1979. The album got a mixed response so Adam hired Malcolm McLaren, who was a manager of another rock band the Sex Pistols, to create a new image for the group. Initially everything was fine and McLaren dressed the band as pirates and turned their music into a style which was more accessible and had more rhythm to it. After a while McLaren convinced the rest of the band members to ditch Adam to form a new band Bow Wow Wow.
That blow didn’t deter Adam Ant and he inducted new faces in the band which led to the band releasing their first album “Kings of the Wild Frontier” in 1980. The album was a huge hit in the United Kingdom which was followed by the release of the second album “Prince Charming” the next year. That album was an even bigger hit but due to certain disagreements the band was disbanded in 1982 and Adam Ant launched his career as a solo performer.
Adam Ant received instant stardom as solo performed when his debut album the “Friend of Foe” released in 1982. It included the track “Goody Two Shoes” which became a rage overnight, moving up to top ten positions on different charts worldwide. The success of the album was followed by an extensive tour of the UK and the US. The success he had as a singer helped him land different roles as an actor. Adam Ant started off his acting career on stage and later moved on to television and movies when he moved to Hollywood. He played roles in Sledge Hammer!( TV show), Tales from the Crypt(TV show) and movies like Love Bites, Nomads and Sunset etc. Adam Ant announced, in 2011, that he is working on launching his own clothing range which will be called “Blueblack Hussar.”
Adam Ant has had a career filled with highs and lows but he hasn’t let anything hold him down. He has come through the hardships with his head held high through sheer strength of character. This multi-talented artist is performing once again for his fans and Adam Ant tickets are available for everyone who wants to be a part of the extravaganza he creates live.
