Grouplove is a LA based band that is quickly becoming the indie rock and alternative rock sensation. With its debut album, this rock group has taken the music scene by storm. Grouplove is relatively a new band in the alternative and indie rock scene, founded in 2010 by a group of friends. Originated in the famous Calfornian city Los Angeles, the band comprises of five members who are friends and share common music interests. The band members initially met at a mutual commune and eventually decided to pursue a music career and form a band. The band's lineup comprises of Sean Gadd on bass guitar, Hannah Hooper on keyboards and backing vocals, Andrew Wessen back vocals and lead guitars, Christian Zuccconi on lead vocals and rhythm guitars and Ryan Rabin on drums. The group has been getting reasonable airplay for the last few months and most recently they had a chance to play live at the Jimmy Kimmel Show.
Grouplove has released one self-titled EP and one studio album called Never Trust a Happy Song, released by Canvasback Records in September 2011 which is one of the labels of music giant Atlantic Records. The album featured popular singles like Tongue Tied, Itchin on a Photograph, Naked Kids, Love will Save Your Soul, Colours, Cruel and Beautiful World, Close Your Eyes and Count to Ten. The album was an instant hit and quickly entered the Australian charts at #21 and US charts at #173. It received favorable reviews from the critics, with ALLmusic giving it three and half stars out of five whereas The Guardian giving it three stars out of five. Two singles from this album titled Tongue Tied and Colourswere were loved by the fans. Tongue Tied made it to the major charts in USA as well as in UK, Australia and Canada. It landed at #69 on Billboard, #37 on US Pop, #3 on US Alternative and #6 on US Rock charts. It also peaked at #84 in UK, #33 in Canada and #10 on Canadian Alternative charts. This single was included in the 2011 Australian National radio list of Triple J's Hottest 100. The song was also used in the popular music and drama series Glee on Fox channel, where the cast of Glee performed a dance number on it during one of the episodes. Colours was at #15, #45 and #29 respectively on US Alternative, Canadian Alternative and US Rock charts. The band is soon embarking on a North American tour to promote the album and it will be performing in different cities.
