Details of Hot Chip and the Ticket Luck value
Appearing from London, Hot Chip is a band that emerged the music picture with the release of their debut, Mexico in 2000. Hot Chip's music can be termed as electro-pop, however the band once described its genre as the 'bedroom neptunes' and their music combines a charming amateur and experimental feel with the most informed pop sensibilities. Having three studio albums, Hot Chip has enjoyed the pleasures of being fourth best album makers of year 2006 by Mixmag. Their very recent album, launched in just February 2008 is also covered as title album of Mixmag January issue.
The master minds behind electronic band "Hot Chip" are Alexis Taylor and Joe Goddard, who were school friends, finding common ground and began to develop home recordings using cheap synthesizers, guitars and percussion. Clarke, one of their school friends, joined them both soon after, impressing them with his quick-witted playing and rather devious musical experiments. Other Hot Chip members include Felix Martin, Al Doyle. Hagop, Tchaparian, Rob Smoughton, Scott Bennett, Daniel Paton are on the list of ex-members of the group.
Hot Chip was founded back in 2000 by Alexis Taylor and Joe Goddard, who had worked together prior to forming Hot Chips. They had been in the same sixth form at Elliott School in Putney, London. Early Hot Chip music was written like sixth-form poetry, with acoustic guitars. However, the band completely changed direction because and decided to try and make the most inane songs they could.
After a good number of self releasing records, based on Do it Yourself approach, Hot Chip signed with Moshi Moshi in 2003 and released their debut LP "Coming on Strong" in 2004. Which got a starters response. Very soon after this Hot Chip started working on their second album and this time they signed a US record deal with DFA Records. Their debut album was re-released in late 2005 by DFA Records.
After a sheer work of 2 years, in 2006 Hot Chip released their second album, "The Warning", which was made public under the umbrella of EMI in the UK. ?The Warning' earned Hot Chip much more mainstream appeal and coverage as well as the attention of critics. The album was shortlisted for the 2006 Mercury Music Prize and was Mixmag's Album of the Year 2006. This album spawned also two UK top forty singles. ?The Warning' was a great step forward in terms of song writing and production, though the album was again recorded entirely at home and without recourse to a professional studio.
"Over and Over" in March 2006 and "And I Was a Boy from School" in May 2006. "Over and Over" received attention for its music video, and was also named as the best single of 2006 by British music magazine NME. Their very recent album 'Made in the Dark' that is just released in February 2008, captures some of the band's performances in a more traditional, rock music fashion. Powerful amplifiers, keyboards and distortion have all crept into the Hot Chip arsenal.
'Made In The Dark' showcases more ballads from Hot Chip than ever before and a great appreciation of deep soul. Alexis' voice sounds as tender and beautiful as ever evoking an angelic sensuality of folk acts such as Bonnie Prince Billy and Richard and Linda Thompson. Title track 'Made In The Dark' and 'We're Looking For A Lot Of Love' are perfect examples. ?Made In The Dark' was recorded mainly at home and is released on EMI records.
Other than three albums, Hot Chip owns a range of EPs and singles and a huge number of remixes including "Robot Man", "Sing Songs Along", "Don & Sherri", "Woop Woop", "She's The One", "King's Cross", "Breakin' Up" and "Raquel"

The solvent of Taylor's delicate high pitch vocal abilities and Goddard's warm low pitch and the band's blip-blop electronics blends a dreamy sound, along with the somewhat ironical lyrics is what that makes this band one of a kind. Some of their influences include Phil Spector and The Beach Boys, Kraftwerk and Robert Wyatt, Timbaland and Madlib, Brian Eno and Devo, Antipop Consortium and Aphex Twin, Will Oldham and Royal Trux.
