San Francisco Giants initially played at Seal Stadium but were shifted to Candlestick Park for a short period. Their move didn't last long due to series of events the stadium was declared as one of the most hostile ballpark in the history of sports. It was ultimately sealed in 1961 to re launch as 3Com Park, which is now known as AT&T Park.

After the outrageous success in the opening days Giants saw a dry spell. Their luck changed once again with their move to San Francisco. They were invincible in the Major League Baseball for years, resulting into a fairly large fan base in San Francisco. Despite their success, they were still not able to bring home the World Series title for their city. Their owners even considered to send the club out of the city. Till the late eighties, San Francisco Giants failed to clinch the World Series. They were several times among the final teams but never made it to the top. They were still regarded as one of the strong pennants contenders. Some of the legendary Giants of this time included "Juan Marichal", "Gaylord Perry", "McCovey" and "Mays".

The seventies and eighties were slump period for the team. The troubles started in the early seventies with the league championship defeat against Pittsburgh Pirates. They traded in "Bob Lurie" hoping that he will bring them out of the woods. This move didn't do the trick although it did save them from shifting to Canada. The eighties were despairingly disappointing; they hit the rock bottom in 1985 by losing one hundred games. This was their worst performance after their move from New York. In this period players like "Candy Maldonado", "Rick Reuschel", "Kevin Mitchell" and "Dave Dravecky" were added to the roster.

They things started to look better once Roger Craig joined them as the new manager. His first five seasons were impeccable with no loss to their credit. They were successful for 83 games in 1986 season and took home the trophy for 1987 Western Division. The next few seasons were quite exciting for the team fans and 1989 brought the honor of National Pennant and this wasn't the end; they were the National Champions for this season. San Francisco Giants performance in the nineties was sporadic throughout the 90s. However, they picked up pace in 2000s. In 2002, their performance at the World Series was seamless but the title slipped away at the very last moment. Their struggle continued and they recorded 100 wins for the fourth time since their inception.

This season again, the fans have their eyes on the San Francisco Giants. They have seen their team give some promising performances in the pre season games and hopeful to see an action-packed season. To spice things up they will be meeting their worst rivals Los Angeles Dodgers and Oakland Athletics. This year the fans will be anticipating echoes of the victory anthems for their team at AT&T Park. The spirits are already skyrocketing as they are now the World Series Champions. They were able to hold the trophy after half a century of struggle and disappointment.
