The inaugural season of National League 1876 was ruled by The White Stockings. Chicago Cubs had some major success in 1880 season. They ended up with an impressive record of winning 67 matches and losing only 17, with an average of .798 percentage, an all time record. To infer an 84 game season onto 162 game season is doubtful analysis, but it gives us a deeper look into the perspective that a winning percentage similar in today's game would produce 129 wins. Clarkson had a fairly good season in 1885 and the Cubs also won a pennant.
